Notes:
This variety makes up the majority of the 1943 mintage and except for less pronounced reverse edge denticles, it is the same as the 1943 'long denticle' variety. The difference could have been caused by a small increase in the size of the central design of the coin when it was being copied by pantograph from the model to a hub. This would result in the edge denticles being pushed out and shortened. Proof restrikes were made unofficially by the Calcutta Mint and sold to collectors in May,1965. The variety of this coin with a missing 'I' is believed to be the result of a filled die.
